Developing a Robust AI Policy

The emergence of ChatGPT and other generative AI tools has created risks and opportunities for companies across different industries. We are discovering that many of our teams, not just engineering, are using various AI tools. While these tools can create efficiencies, there is also great risk. It is tempting to simply ban the use of these tools, but is this the best way forward?

  • How are AI tools being used, and by whom?

  • How are legal departments using AI tools? Which tools are others departments using?

  • Which AI tools are various teams using?

  • Is it practical to ban the use of AI tools completely?

  • How are companies developing their AI policies?

  • In which categories are AI tools clearly ok to use? In which categories are AI tools clearly not ok to use?

  • What are the potential risks and rewards of using AI tools?

  • What is the impact of various use cases?

  • Companies are commingling content with sales presentations and products. What are the IP implications?

  • Customers are asking about AI use. What types of representations and/or warranties should you provide?
