JOHN ZHU
John Zhu is currently Director, Associate General Counsel within Cisco Systems’ intellectual property group, where he helps Cisco mitigate IP risk for its many product portfolios across networking, security, and collaboration. In his role, John leads the patent marketplace team in evaluating third-party IP threats; he also works on patent strategy, manages some of Cisco’s patent litigation matters, and negotiates IP licenses. Before joining Cisco in 2018, John worked at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and Mayer Brown LLP, mostly defending companies against NPEs. John received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. from the George Washington University. He lives in Brooklyn with his loving partner Sarah and the best dog Gus.
