PALO ALTO, Calif. – April 10, 2019–– Intellectual property (IP) law continues to be one of the most dynamic and challenging areas of law practice, as companies of all sizes realize they are inevitably part of an ever-shifting global economy.  On May 6-9 in Palo Alto, California, IP Counsel Café presents its 11th Silicon Valley Annual Meeting entitled “Parts Unknown:  Global IP in an Increasingly Connected Yet Foreign World”.  The Conference will provide a concentrated series of cutting-edge panels and networking events to help attendees uncover emerging trends and navigate the highly volatile world of IP.

IP Counsel Café features distinguished IP Counsel speakers from more than 70 companies.  Topics range from emerging litigation trends in the U.S. and foreign jurisdictions, navigating government regulations, impact of evolving IP practices in China and the EU, and more.  After a Welcome Dinner on May 6, the educational agenda kicks off on May 7with power-packed panels featuring IP law leaders from Facebook, Google, HP Enterprise, IBM, Intel, Samsung, Uber, and more.

On May 9, Judge Randall Rader (ret.), former Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, leads a breakfast workshop entitled “Comparing Chinese and U.S. Company Perspectives”. Protecting IP in China continues to perplex foreign companies, industry veterans will share tips for navigating the market.

IP Counsel Café Executive Director and General Counsel Sandy Chan remarked: “IP protection is governed by territorial jurisdiction, yet the use of IP is increasingly international without borders.  Companies are partnering with inventors and manufacturers all around the world, while selling their products in foreign markets. We must navigate cultural differences and diverse government regulations, as our IP and markets evolve.  In our innovation culture, women IP law leaders are also emerging and shaping the landscape. We are incredibly proud to offer a stellar speaker lineup for this year’s IP Counsel Café, including our first Women’s Program.  Overall, the 4-day Conference will deliver top quality, state-of-the-art IP law education to keep IP leaders at the industry forefront.”
