ALFRED YIP

Alfred Yip is Director, Patent Search, Examination and Analytics at IPOS International. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of patents both in the public and private sectors. 

Aside from overseeing the patent search and examination capability, he had recently taken on an expanded role to grow the group’s patent analytics expertise, working with the National Research Foundation of Singapore to bring awareness on the strategic use of patent data within government agencies. During his term in public service, he had also served as the Vice-Chair of the United Nations’ committee on patents, and chair of the ASEAN Patent Examination Cooperation Taskforce.  

Prior to joining IPOS, Alfred was a principal consultant in a Japanese multinational corporation where he regularly advised business domains on contentious issues pertaining to standard essential patents within the telecommunications sector.

Alfred had served in various office bearer positions on the executive committee of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) of Singapore, and as co-chair of the LES International High Technology Committee. Alfred graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (First Class). He holds a Specialist Certificate in Intangible Asset Management and completed the Leading Business Transformation in Asia Programme at INSEAD in 2021.
